Blackjack at Genting Casino Newcastle
On our gaming floor on Forth Street, we spread live blackjack alongside American Roulette, Three Card Poker, Baccarat and a mix of electronic tables. We sit just behind Newcastle Central Station - pop NE1 3NZ into your phone and you will see us - and we operate as part of the wider Genting Casinos UK group across England. For a lot of guests, blackjack is the main reason they walk through the door, so we keep two dedicated tables running on the main floor.
Live gaming hours change slightly across the week. From Wednesday to Saturday, our blackjack tables open from 4pm and usually keep going until 4am. On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we start earlier at 12pm, but we finish at the same time. It is always a good idea to double-check before travelling, especially if you are planning a quieter midweek visit.
| Day | Live Gaming Start | Closing Time |

Our Late Bar is open every day from 2pm until 3am, so you can get a drink, sit down and take a moment before you think about playing. If you want to be sure a blackjack seat is available before you set off, give our team a call on +44 (0)191 232 0900 and we can check the floor for you.
How the Game Actually Works
At Genting Casino Newcastle we run blackjack using standard UK casino rules. The aim is clear and simple: finish closer to 21 than the dealer without going over that total. Number cards count as their printed value, all picture cards count as 10, and Aces can count as either 1 or 11 depending on which value makes your hand stronger.
When your first two cards add up to 21, usually an Ace together with a 10-value card, that is a natural blackjack. This hand pays 3:2, provided the dealer does not also hold a blackjack. If both you and the dealer finish on the same total, including blackjack, the hand is a push and your original stake is returned to you.
While a hand is in progress, you have a few decisions to make:
- Hit - ask for another card to be dealt to your hand.
- Stand - keep your current total and take no more cards.
- Double Down - double your initial wager and receive exactly one extra card.
- Split - when your first two cards share the same value, divide them into two separate hands with an extra bet.
- Surrender - where offered, give up half of your stake to end the hand early.
The dealer must keep drawing cards until reaching 17 or more, then is required to stand. There is no personal judgement involved, no sudden change of mind - this part is fixed by the house rules. That consistency is one of the reasons that blackjack often feels more transparent than several other table games.
One practical point that helps almost everywhere you choose to play: having at least a basic strategy in your head before you sit down usually makes the whole session feel calmer. You do not need to remember every single move from a chart, but a rough idea of when doubling down usually makes sense can really change how each decision feels at the table.
